Welcome to Popsicles and Passports! A peak into the world of 2 curly haired cuties, Nyla and Landon, as they travel abroad cheering on their basketball dad. Nyla is a spunky 4 year old fashionista. She was recently signed to a Chicago modeling agency but since we are hardly home for casting calls we have put that on hold. Landon will be 1 in April and is so anxious to get around and play with his big sis. They are constantly captured through the lens of their photog mom (that’s me). I should probably introduce myself as well… So here goes… Hello, I am Jaclyn! Better known as Nyla and Landon’s mom. I am usually the one behind the lens though I might make an occasional appearance.
As a family, we spend every basketball season in a different city usually in Europe and spend the summers back in SWEET HOME CHICAGO. We are excited to be spending the next 2 seasons in Lille, France. Nyla will be attending school abroad for the first time and we are hoping she will take on French as her second language. (fingers crossed) She already has the basics down since this isn’t her first rodeo in France. For baby Landon this will be his first time traveling abroad and we are so excited to share these amazing life experiences with him. This blog will be based on these two babes making their mark on the world. The beautiful places they go, the people they meet, a little food and fashion too. Lets not forget a few mommy travel tricks of the trade. We are just your typical family living a not so typical life.
Our annual fall trip to Michigan
When I was a young girl My grandparents lake house in colon Michigan was one of my favorite places to go. Though summers there are my fondest memories, it has been an ongoing tradition to take a fall trip up there. We would go to the Nottawa Fruit for their pumpkin patch and just enjoy the fall vibes.
Since Nyla was born we carried on this tradition. She’s gone every year pretty much since she was Born. This year we were especially excited to share in the tradition with baby Landon. So I loaded up the car and took the 3 hour drive with the two kids alone! Sounds like a nightmare! Luckily Nyla is a big help in the car entertaining Landon and giving him a bottle when needed. She loves the drive up there she pays close attention out of the window and enjoys seeing the cows and horses on the farms along the way. Definitely not stuff we are used to in Chicago or anywhere else we have lived.
Nottawa Fruit Farm
We went to enjoy their pumkin patch and the other fall festivities they offer.
Corn stalk maze
Coloring mini pumpkins
A play on musical chairs
And last but not least
Picking your very own pumpkin to take home
While we were their we found out this was their last year.. the farm owners are retiring. Glad I got to share something I did as a kid with my kids. Definitely tried to capture as many moments as I could since this was our last year!
Zoo Boo at Binder Park Zoo
(Battle Creek Michigan)
This was our first year attending the Zoo Boo! The kids wore their costumes (Nyla wonder women & Landon batman)
Trick Or Treating
& Face painting!
Nyla said it was her best day ever!
Landon just enjoys being outside and looking around no matter what we are doing. It was a great time!
On the way back to Grams we hit Station 66 for some ice cream. Nyla and I both enjoyed their mint cookie ice cream. Since we are both Mint ice cream fanatics. Station 66 was so good we had to go back another time before heading back to Chicago. This time Nyla had a delicious grilled cheese, I enjoyed their nachos, Gram had a chicken salad sandwich and again they did not disappoint!
All in all, our annual fall trip did not fail us. We had a blast! Now as we head Back to Chicago we prepare for our move to France in 2 weeks! #staytuned
